Horween has taken the same tanning process and recipe and applied it to much thicker hides, resulting in leather clocking in at 9-10oz or about 3.8mm thick. With a solid Single Prong Roller Brass Buckle, you can easy tie and untie the belt faster.

Black Teacore Chromexcel is a combination-tanned leather produced by Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Illinois. The term “teacore” derives from the Japanese term 茶芯 (chashin), meaning “brown core,” describing leather that reveals a brown interior as the black surface layer wears away over time. This leather combines the hot-stuffed oil and wax content of traditional Chromexcel with the distinctive aging characteristics of teacore processing, making it particularly sought after for heritage footwear applications.
Black Teacore Chromexcel represents one of several teacore variations in Horween’s product line, offering greater patina potential than standard black Chromexcel due to its brown substrate that gradually emerges through wear. The leather is manufactured using the same 89-step, 28-day process as regular Chromexcel, with the addition of surface dyeing that creates the characteristic teacore effect.
