The Horsehide A-2 Flight Jacket from Vietnamese leather makers is a military inspired leather bomber silhouette made from vegetable tanned tea core horsehide leather milled in New Zealand. Perhaps no military style is as iconic as the A-2 Flight Jacket. This is a classic jacket indispensable for work and daily wear in cold weather.
Description
First introduced by the Army Air Corps in 1931, as the “ Jacket, Flying, Type A-2”, it was the successor of the Type A-1 Flight jacket. The Type A-2 was designed for open cockpits, which explains the sturdy snaps and reinforced pockets. The A-2’s collar could be closed completely in order to protect the wearer from the wind and the rather slim, functional cut was ideal for the cramped cockpit.
The characteristic design features of the Type A-2 were its front pockets with pointed flaps, the tight, ribbed wool cuffs, the riveted eyelet underneath each armpit, epaulettes (shoulder flaps) and a shirt like button down collar.

Horsehide Teacore Leather
Teacore leather is a highly prized style of leather that emulates the nuanced break-in of vintage leather by in turn emulating older styles of tanning and finishing leathers. What makes a leather teacore is that, as you wear away the outermost layer of dye or pigment, you begin to see a new layer of color, usually a light brown, hearkening back to a time when leathers were almost always veg-tanned. In very high-quality modern leathers, this innermost layer of color will likewise be veg-tanned, which remains one of the lengthiest and costliest ways to tan a hide.
