Description
The 1870s Classic Cut Selvedge Herringbone Denim Miner Jeans 15 oz was inspiration from The Forgotten Relic of the American Gold Rush.
Before history was written by a single giant, the 1870s American West was a lawless frontier of design. In 1873, the denim landscape changed forever when Levi’s patented the metal rivet, suing rival pioneers out of existence—including the legendary Alfred Elfelt. Forced to innovate or fade away, a golden era of alternative, wildly unique workwear was born. Alongside historical icons like the 1874 J. Greenebaum and 1879 Charles A. Jones, Elfelt’s rare designs represented the ultimate rebellious spirit of the Gold Rush.
Virtually lost to history with almost no surviving records, we became obsessed with bringing this rare piece back to life. Today, we are proud to introduce a garment over 150 years in the making.

Material
ZIMBABWE COTTON
Zimbabwe cotton is just cotton that comes from Zimbabwe — there’s not one specific species, grade, or type of cotton that makes it special. Farmers grow all grades of cotton and many varieties of cotton.
But what make it special? Because Zimbabwe has a very good climate for growing cotton. The climate produces a raw material that has unique qualities. The cotton is also hand-picked by farmers.
Handing picking and sorting should separate the longest, strongest, most uniform, and most mature cotton fibers without damaging them. The logic is that hand-picked cotton from small shareholder farms is a higher quality than machine harvested cotton which may be damaged by the equipment.
**That fabric was made by our partner- the private custom mill at Okayama, Japan. Using the vintage 50s Loom Toyoda G9.
